Risk of explosion
If the vehicle's gas system leaks, there is the chance that the gas may
accidentally ignite in the vehicle or in closed rooms, causing an
explosion.
Risk of injury
Accidental ignition of the exiting gas can cause burns to skin and eyes.

Safety precautions/instructions
It must be ensured that all sources of ignition are
removed from the area before commencing work.
- Before commencing with any repair work on the
gas tank, it must be completely emptied as per the
legal requirements.
- Before commencing any work on the lines of the
gas system, all shutoff valves must be closed as
per the legal requirements.
- No open flames or smoking in the work area.
- Avoid the formation of sparks (use spark-
inhibiting tools).
- Keep all combustible materials and objects away
from equipment
- Do not use any flammable substances to lubricate
threads and valves (oils, grease, etc.).
- Wear protective clothing, safety gloves and safety
glasses
- Keep fire extinguishing devices at hand.
- Perform a fire check of the surroundings after
work has carried out.
- Never perform work in closed rooms.
- All work involving assembly and disassembly and
all leak tests may only be performed by authorized
personnel.
- Workshop personnel must demonstrate their
knowledge in accordance with the OSHA
requirements (Occupational Safety and Health
Administration) and be able to act accordingly.
- All work involving assembly and disassembly and
all leak tests must be performed as per the relevant
regulations and requirements of the ANSI, NFPA
and UL standards (e.g. UL No. 1075 and NFPA No.
58)
Due to the fact that explosions can occur when the
gas system leaks, a leak test must be performed
before restarting the system after repairs have
been done in which the pipes and lines of the gas
system have been opened.
First aid measures:
Move the victim out of the risk area.
If eyes are affected immediately and thoroughly
wash out eyes (making sure that eye lids are open)
with plenty of clean water.
If skin is affected drench with water. The victim
should remain calm and be kept warm.
If inhaled, and if drowsiness, headaches, visual
problems or irritation of the eyes, nose and throat
occur, remove victim to fresh air. Place
unconscious victims in the recovery position and
check for breathing and pulse. If there is no
breathing or insufficient breathing, the preferable
action is to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
If necessary, carry out CPR.
