When true-idle is enabled using bit 3 in CV 112, the
auto-notching rate will subtract one notch from its normal
setting. If you have this feature enabled, are operating in
128 speed step mode and have set the auto-notch rate
to 2, the prime mover will not increase the RPM notch
from idle when the throttle is advanced from speed step
0 to speed step 1. It will increase the RPM notch up to
notch 2 when you advance the throttle from speed step 1 to speed step 2.
Technical Tip: If you have the auto-notch rate set to 1, we recommend that you enable the
true-idle feature by turning on bit 3 in CV 112 (Sound Configuration 1). Doing so will ensure that
the prime mover sound effect increases and decreases RPM notches each time the throttle
speed step is changed.
CV 114: Enable Manual Notching
Set the auto-notching sensitivity level to 0 to enable manual notching and disable auto-notching.
When manual notching is enabled, the engine RPM notch level will not be automatically
adjusted in response to the throttle setting, and you must use the RPM+ and RPM- functions to
adjust the engine RPM notch level during operation. Manual notching is intended for simulating
the prototypical operation of a diesel locomotive and allows you to change the engine RPM
notch level when most appropriate. Manual notching is disabled by default.
CV 114: Enable Engine Interlock
Add a value of 16 to CV 114 to enable engine interlock. When engine interlock is enabled, you
must turn on the RPM+ function to start the prime mover before setting the locomotive into
motion. Similarly, you will be unable to turn off the prime mover during movement. In other
words, the locomotive must be stopped before you start or shut down the prime mover. Engine
interlock is disabled by default.
CV 114: Enable Auto-Start
Add a value of 32 to CV 114 to allow the prime mover to start when the decoder receives track
power. For DCC operation, the prime mover will not start when the decoder receives track
power when auto-start is disabled. For analog mode (DC) operation, the prime mover will start
when the decoder receives track power regardless of CV 114. Auto-start is enabled by default.
CV 114: Select Dynamic Braking Modes
Selecting a dynamic braking mode will allow the decoder to set the engine RPM to a designated
notch level when you turn on the dynamic brake function (F4 by default). Dynamic braking
modes are disabled by default.
Add a value of 64 to CV 114 to allow the decoder to set engine RPM to notch 1 (idle)
when you turn on the dynamic brake function.
Add a value of 128 to CV 114 to allow the decoder to set engine RPM to notch 4 when
you turn on the dynamic brake function.
Add a value of 192 to CV 114 to allow the decoder to set engine RPM to notch 8 when
you turn on the dynamic brake function.
Note: The dynamic brake RPM level will override the Dynamic Digital Exhaust RPM setting
when a dynamic braking mode is enabled in CV 114. The HEP mode function and emergency
stop button will override the RPM setting of the dynamic braking mode when the dynamic brake
function is turned on.
Auto-Notching Sensitivity
CV 114 + 0 = Auto-notching disabled
CV 114 + 1 = 1 speed step
CV 114 + 2 = 2 speed steps
