SCOPE
This manual provides easy-to-use reference data for the more common items of Marine Corps ordnance
equipment. The equipment description sheets, which make up the bulk of the manual, provide a description,
function, and technical characteristics of the equipment, including, when applicable, fuel and power requirements,
power outputs, major components, and associated components. If available, photographs or drawings of the
equipment are provided. For complete data on any item, refer to the appropriate technical manual or Stock List
(SL-3 or SL-4). Stock Lists can be accessed on the internet through the MATCOM website
http://mcsd4.ala.usmc.mil/MCSD/SL/. For additional assistance contact Action Officer at PG 13, PM IW,
phone number: 703-432-4942.
1-2.
CONTENTS OF THIS MANUAL
a. Introduction. Contains general information about the publication and its use.
b. Equipment Description Sheets. Equipment description sheets provide key characteristics of the
equipment and include illustrations or drawings as appropriate. Some equipment items have multiple operating
configurations. Those are marked as “varies” under Operating Data.
c. Equipment Listing by Functional Category. The equipment is listed by groupings of functionally
similar items of equipment.
d. Equipment Listing by TAM-Number Sequence. This section is a listing arranged in alphanumeric
TAMCN sequence of each functional category. The listing provides Table of Authorized Materiel Control Number
(TAMCN), equipment Item Designator (ID) number, National Stock Number (NSN), item description, model
number, and a page number reference to the equipment description sheets. It should be noted that some TAMCN
are common to more than one piece of equipment.
1-3.
LOCATING EQUIPMENT DATA
Equipment data may be located by either TAMCN or by Functional Category.
a.
Functional Category. If the functional category is known, e.g., floodlight, find the functional
category, then refer to the desired sublist item. If more detailed information is required than is presented, refer to
the appropriate page in the equipment description sheets section.
b.
TAMCN. If the TAMCN is known, refer to the alphanumeric listing in the Equipment Listing by
TAM-number sequence to find the equipment. If more detailed information is required than is presented, refer to
the appropriate page in the equipment description sheets.
1-4.

DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTION
M35 Medium Machine Gun Vehicle Mount (MMGVM) is a lightweight, vehicle mounting platform for the
M240 series and M249 series weapons and ammunition. Supplied with Traverse and Elevation Mechanism (T&E)
and used in conjunction with a Universal Pintle Adapter (UPA), it provides an adjustable, low-maintenance, easy-
to-operate vehicle mount that accepts either weapon series without having to change mount configuration. A grab
handle on the mount aids in weapon control and stability.

DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTION
The MK93 machine gun mount is a dual purpose, soft mount for the MK19 Grenade Machine Gun (GMG)
and M2 Heavy Machine Gun (HMG). The MK93 is designed for use with either a tripod or a vehicular mount
(using the MK175 pintle pedestal). It requires no external adapters or tools to mount either weapon system, mak-
ing change-overs much easier. The MK93 will provide the capacity to optimize operational capabilities of the M2
HMG and the MK19 GMG in both vehicular and ground mounted modes. It provides platform stabilization,
improves accuracy, increases hit probability while decreasing the time and effort to install and interchange weap-
ons. The MK93 replaces the MK64 MOD 5 cradle.

DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTION
Mount, Tripod, Machine Gun, 7.62 mm, M122 is a lightweight, portable, folding mount used for ground fire.
It consists of three main groups: the tripod, the traversing and elevating mechanism, and the pintle. The travers-
ing and elevating mechanism has a quick disconnect adapter that fastens to a plate beneath the receiver of the
weapon. When released, the weapon may be traversed a full 360 degrees and manually elevated or depressed.
The pintle has a platform with a quick disconnect latch that uncouples the weapon from the mount by pressing for-
ward on the release latch (only one pintle is provided per tripod).

DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTION
Mount, Tripod, Machine Gun, Caliber .50, M3 is a lightweight, portable, folding mount. It consists of three
telescoping tubular legs joined in a tripod head; the two rear legs are joined and supported by a traversing bar.
The traversing bar forms a single A-truss and serves as a rear support for the traversing and elevating mecha-
nism that supports the mounted gun. The tripod head furnishes a front support for the mounted gun and is sup-
ported by the short front leg. This mount is stowed on vehicles and tanks for ground use when conditions warrant.
The tripod is used with the M2 and MK19 machine guns.

DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTION
Pistol, Semi-automatic, 9 mm, M9 (shown above) and M9A1 is a magazine-fed, recoil-operated, double-
action pistol, chambered for the 9 mm cartridge. It is a defensive hand weapon, with a 15-round capacity, used for
ranges less than 50 yards. Upon firing, the pressure developed by the combustion gases recoils the slide and bar-
rel assembly. After a short run, the locking block will stop the rearward movement of the barrel and release the
slide, which continues rearward movement. The slide will then extract and eject the fired cartridge case, cock the
hammer, and compress the recoil spring. The slide moves forward under recoil spring pressure, feeding the next
round. The slide stop holds the slide and barrel assembly open after the last round has been fired and ejected.
The M9A1 lower receiver has an integral MIL-STD-1913 for mounting accessories.
