ENCLOSURE S
GSORTS DATA ELEMENTS
1. This enclosure provides definitions (including format, reference, data source
requirement, and set where the data is used) of the data elements contained
within the GSORTS database. The data elements are broken down into four
tables (Tables 57 through 60). Table 57 lists the data elements reported in a
SORTSREP message. The remaining tables contain Service-unique data
elements reported in a Service-unique report (i.e., SORTSREPAF,
SORTSREPNV, and SORTSREPAR). The Service-unique data elements are
reported in addition to those required within Table 57 for a SORTSREP
message. Use service publications at Enclosure T to address service specific
procedures.
2. The following guidance applies to Tables 57 through 60.
a. Label column identifies the name of the data element as found in the
GSORTS database.
b. Descriptor column identifies the details of the data element as found in
the GSORTS database.
c. Format column identifies the valid format for the data element as found
in the GSORTS database. “A” indicates the number of allowable alphabetical
characters, “N” the number of allowable numeric characters, “S” the number of
allowable special characters, “AN” the number of allowable alphabetical and/or
numeric characters, and “ANS” the number of allowable alphabetical, numeric,
and/or special characters.
d. Reference column identifies the source document (as found in Enclosure
T) or enclosure of this manual that provides detailed information on this data
element.
e. Source column identifies the authoritative organization or database
source of the data element. Sources are as follows: “G” - GSORTS, “A” - U.S.
Army, “AF” - U.S. Air Force, and “N” - U.S. Navy.
f. Set column identifies the related data sets.
