Preliminary Procedures 

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .  

2. If equipped, remove the console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console 

Replacement (with RPO SLT) or Front Floor Console Replacement (without 
RPO SLT).  

3. Remove the instrument panel insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator 

Replacement (with RPO SLT) or Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement 
(without RPO SLT).  

4. Remove the windshield garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish 

Molding Replacement .  

5. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper 

Trim Panel with Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement (without 
RPO SLT) or 

Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel with Windshield Defroster 

Nozzle Grille Replacement (with RPO SLT)

.  

6. Remove the instrument panel inflatable restraint module. Refer to Inflatable 

Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement .  

7. Remove the instrument panel outer trim covers. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer 

Trim Cover Replacement (without RPO SLT) or Instrument Panel Outer Trim 
Cover Replacement (with RPO SLT).

8. Remove the instrument panel left and center air outlets. Refer to Instrument Panel 

Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Left Side (without RPO SLT) or Instrument 
Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Left Side (with RPO SLT) and 
Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Replacement (without RPO SLT) or 
Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Replacement (With RPO SLT) .  

9. Remove the instrument panel compartment assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel 

Storage Compartment Replacement.  

10. Remove the instrument panel compartment closeout. Refer to Instrument Panel 

Compartment Access Hole Cover Replacement (without RPO SLT) or 
Instrument Panel Compartment Access Hole Cover Replacement (with RPO 
SLT).  

11. Remove the instrument panel upper storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel 

Storage Compartment Replacement.  

12. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (Non 

Hybrid) .  

13. Remove the instrument panel lower center trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel 

Lower Center Trim Replacement.  

14. Remove the instrument panel cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster 

Replacement (without RPO SLT) .  

15. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module 

Replacement .  

16. Remove the radio assembly. Refer to Radio Replacement (without RPO SLT) or 

Radio Replacement (with RPO SLT) .

Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel to Defroster Duct Screw (Qty: 2) 

Tighten: 2 N.m (18 lb in) 

NOTE:

Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten: 9 N.m (80 lb in)

1. Note location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to 

removal of the instrument panel upper trim panel assembly to ensure 
proper reinstallation.  

2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the instrument panel upper trim panel 

assembly.  

3. With the aid of an assistant, remove the instrument panel upper trim panel 

assembly from the vehicle.  

4. If replacing the instrument panel upper trim panel assembly, transfer all 

necessary components.

3. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel with defroster nozzle. Refer to 

Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel with Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille 
Replacement (without RPO SLT) or Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel with 
Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement (with RPO SLT).

4. Remove the radio front speaker, if equipped. Refer to Radio Front Speaker 

Replacement .  

5. Remove the instrument panel outer trim covers. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer 

Trim Cover Replacement (without RPO SLT) or Instrument Panel Outer Trim 
Cover Replacement (with RPO SLT).  

6. Remove the left instrument panel air outlet. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air 

Outlet Replacement - Left Side (without RPO SLT) or Instrument Panel Outer 
Air Outlet Replacement - Left Side (with RPO SLT) .  

7. Remove the headlamp switch bezel assembly. Refer to Headlamp Switch Bezel 

Replacement (with RPO SLT).  

8. Remove the instrument panel cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster 

Replacement (without RPO SLT) .  

9. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (Non 

Hybrid) .  

10. Remove the instrument panel center trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Center 

Trim Panel Replacement (with RPO SLT).  

11. Remove the instrument panel accessory switch assembly. Refer to Accessory Switch 

Replacement (with RPO SLT) or Accessory Switch Replacement (without RPO 
SLT) .  

12. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module 

Replacement .  

13. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (without RPO SLT) or Radio 

Replacement (with RPO SLT) .  

14. Remove the instrument panel inflatable restraint. Refer to Inflatable Restraint 

Instrument Panel Module Replacement .  

15. Remove the right instrument panel air outlet. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air 

Outlet Replacement - Right Side (without RPO SLT) or Instrument Panel 
Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Right Side (with RPO SLT) .  

16. Remove the instrument panel compartment door. Refer to Instrument Panel 

Compartment Door Replacement (with RPO SLT).  

17. Remove the instrument panel access hole cover panel. Refer to Instrument Panel 

Compartment Access Hole Cover Replacement (without RPO SLT) or 
Instrument Panel Compartment Access Hole Cover Replacement (with RPO 
SLT).
