INTRODUCTION

1-1. SCOPE.
This manual provides easy-to-use reference data for the more common items of Marine Corps engineer
equipment. The equipment description sheets (Chapter 2), which make up the bulk of the manual, provides the
operating and shipping characteristics of the equipment, including, when applicable, fuel and power requirements,
power outputs, and major components. If available, photographs or drawings of the equipment are provided. For
complete data on any item, refer to the appropriate technical manual or Stock List (SL-3 or SL-4). Stock Lists can
be accessed on the internet through the MATCOM website http://mcsd4.ala.usmc.mil/MCSD/SL/. For additional

1-2. GENERAL ARRANGEMENT.
a. Introduction (Chapter 1). This chapter contains general information about the publication and its use.
b. Equipment Description Sheets (Chapter 2). This chapter contains equipment description sheets
arranged in alphanumeric table of Authorized Materiel Control Number (TAMCN) sequence. Each sheet provides
key operating and shipping characteristics of the equipment and includes illustrations or drawings as appropriate.
Some equipment items have multiple operating configurations. Those are marked as “varies” under Operating and
Shipping Data.
c. Equipment Listing by TAMCN (Chapter 3). This chapter is a listing arranged in alphanumeric TAMCN
sequence. The listing provides Table of Authorized Materiel Control Number (TAMCN), equipment Item Designator
(ID) number, equipment nomenclature, and a page number reference to the equipment description sheet in
Chapter 2. It should be noted that some TAMCN are common to more than one item of equipment.
1-3. EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION SHEET FORMAT.
Each end item is given a separate data page. Data provided is self-explanatory. Some special instructions on
the use of the data pages are provided below:
a. Square Stowage/Cubic Measure Entries. The term “square stowage/cubic measure” is used in this
manual to indicate the floor or deck area, in square feet/cubic feet, required by an item. Square stowage/cubic
measure figures are most useful for those items, which cannot be stacked; however, this manual provides square
stowage/cubic measure information on most items, including those that can be stacked. Square stowage/cubic
measure figures shown in this manual are rounded off to the nearest tenth. They do not include factors for
additional space that may be required for maneuvering or tiedown.
b. Containers for Sets and Kits. Many sets or kits of tools, accessories, and expendable supplies listed in
this manual are issued without containers. Since containers may be constructed to suit the particular needs of the
unit, dimensions and weights of the carrying case/chest for such sets and kits will be included, if available. No
operating data is provided since the tools, while in use, can be greatly dispersed.

The Air Conditioner, 1.5-Ton, 18,000 BTU/hr, is an electric motor driven ECU. These units are capable of
providing cooled, dehumidified, heated, and filtered air for supply to a shelter or van. The 1.5-Ton ECU is com-
prised of an electrical subsystem, a refrigeration subsystem and the structure, i.e., the cabinet and frame. The
electrical subsystem is designed to accept 208VAC/3-Phase, 50/60 Hz input power. The 1.5-Ton ECU weighs
approximately 245 pounds and is capable of providing 18,000 BTU of cooling and 13,400 BTU of heating. Low
setting provides a minimum of 9,000 BTU of cooling and 7,000 BTU of heat.
