Unscrew screws (12) from bottom side of 
instrument panel

Remove stowage compartment (7).

Remove entry lamp from bottom side of 
instrument panel.

6.1 Remove paneling (8).

 Only as of VIN A145273, 

X708319.

Unscrew screw (11) from right side of 
instrument panel.

Loosen instrument panel bottom section (2) at 
side on instrument panel (1) and pull 
downward.

 Carefully pull downward to 

prevent damaging instrument panel.

Unscrew screws (4) from beverage holder (3) at 
inside of instrument panel bottom section (2)

Unscrew screws (5) at outside of instrument 
panel bottom section (2)

on stowage compartment (7).

Remove, Install

Remove armrest cover from center console

Remove cover on gearshift lever

Unscrew screws (2) from front of housing (1)

Disconnect electrical connector on right and 
left rear power window switches (S21/15s1 
and S21/15s2)

Up to 31.08.01: Remove wiring 

harness from mount.

Disconnect connector from floor in center 
console

Up to 31.08.01: Remove wiring 

harness from mount.

Unscrew screws (4) from rear of housing (1)

Remove housing (1)

 Set selector lever to position N 
 Installation: As of 01.09.01, 

ensure that air duct is installed 
tightly.

 

7

Install in the reverse order

Remove, install

Open rear cupholder (1), release from center console and fold 
down

Remove screws (2)

Unclip rear section (3) at top (arrows)

Release tabs (4) at bottom

 Danger of 

breaking.

Pull rear section (3) away from center console

Unplug connectors for rear window switches

 

 

7

Install in reverse order
