Extended service - every 30 000 miles
or 3 years, whichever occurs first
Carry out all operations listed above, plus the following:

Renew the coolant (Section 28)
m
m
Renew the air cleaner filter element (Section 29). Note
that this task must be carried out at more frequent
intervals if the vehicle is used in dusty or polluted
conditions

m
Check the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system,
and clean the filter (Section 30)
m
m
Renew the spark plugs - Zetec engines only (Section 27)
m
m
Check the oil filler cap - HCS engines only (Section 31)
m
m
Renew the automatic transmission fluid (Section 32)
m
m
Check the handbrake adjustment (Section 33)
Every 60 000 miles
Carry out all operations listed above, plus the following:

Renew the timing belt (Section 34)
m
m
Renew the fuel filter (Section 35)
Every 3 years (regardless of
mileage)
m
m
Renew the brake fluid (Section 36)

11 Clutch operating lever and
cable
12 Cooling fan
13 Starter motor
14 Exhaust heat shield/air
deflector
15 Vehicle identification plate
(VIN)
16 Alternator
17 Coolant expansion tank
18 Suspension upper mounting
