43. Using the special tool, stake the output shaft locknut and the countershaft locknut.

44. Install the speedometer drive gear on 4x2 vehicles, or the Output Speed (OSS) tone ring on 4x4 vehicles. 

1. Position the locating ball on the shaft, then install the speedometer drive gear.  

2. Install the snap ring.

45. Apply a small bead of silicone rubber to the extension housing mating surface.  

46. Install the extension housing. 

1. Position extension housing.  

2. Install the bolts.

47. Using the special tool, install a new extension housing seal.
